Using the New Product Catalog

The Product Catalog Overhaul introduces a more flexible way to build and manage Subscriptions in Maxio. This page is your central reference for what changed, what to expect, and where to go next. You are no longer required to use a single Plan per Subscription. You can create Subscriptions using Plans, Products, both together, or a fully Planless configuration.
What changed

With the new Catalog, you can:
- Add Plans, Products, or both to a Subscription
- Create fully Planless Subscriptions
- Configure trials directly on Planless Subscriptions
- Apply pricing more flexibly
- Make many Subscription changes, like item and quantity updates, together on one screen

After upgrading, you may notice:
- A redesigned Subscription creation experience
- Different terminology in the UI
- New options when configuring Subscriptions

Important things to know
Keep the following in mind as you work in the new Catalog:
- Signup pages must be created manually. Creating a Plan or Product no longer automatically generates a public signup page.
- A valid tax code is required for taxable Products. The "None" option is no longer available.
- Some integrations do not yet support Planless Subscriptions. CRM and CPQ tools (for example, Salesforce, HubSpot) may require Plan-based structures.
- Existing APIs continue to work with no immediate changes required. Terminology updates may follow in future releases.
- Some screens and labels may look different after upgrading.

Creating Subscriptions
When creating a Subscription from Billing → Subscriptions → Create Subscription, you may no longer be required to select a Plan first. Depending on your setup, you can begin by adding Products directly in the Subscription builder.
Subscription display
In the Configuration column on a Customer's Subscriptions list, and on the Subscription Summary page, Planless Subscriptions may appear as "X Products" instead of a single Plan name.
Catalog terminology
Some labels have changed across the UI. In many areas, Products may appear where you previously expected Components, and Plans may replace what were previously called Products.
Trials and pricing
During Subscription creation and editing, trial settings may appear directly in the workflow for Planless configurations. You may also see both List Price and Sales Price when configuring or reviewing Subscription items.
Making subscription changes
When updating a Subscription from the Subscription Summary page, some changes, like adding or removing items, adjusting quantities, and scheduling future updates, can be handled together on one screen.
