Control how invoices and customer-facing billing documents appear using Branding Themes. Customize logos, colors, fonts, and layouts to deliver a consistent brand experience across Invoices, Public Signup Pages, and emails. Branding Themes are useful when you manage multiple brands or need different Invoice designs for different Customers or Subscriptions. They help you maintain consistent branding without creating separate billing Sites.
Go to Config > Branding to create and manage Branding Themes.
Key capabilities
Branding Themes currently support:
- Invoices
- Public Signup Pages
- Email styling templates
With Branding Themes, you can:
- Create multiple branded themes within a Site.
- Assign specific themes to Customers, Subscriptions, or Invoices.
- Maintain consistent brand presentation across Invoice delivery channels.
- Launch new brands without creating additional Sites.
Common use cases
Branding Themes are particularly useful in multi-brand or multi-region environments. They allow you to adapt visual presentation without restructuring your billing architecture.
Common scenarios include:
- Managing multiple brands under one corporate entity.
- Supporting region-specific branding requirements.
- Applying unique branding for enterprise Customers.
- Issuing one-time or ad hoc Invoices with different visual requirements.
How Branding Themes work
Branding Themes provide a structured, visual way to design how your Invoices appear. Using a drag-and-drop editor, you can configure logos, fonts, colors, and layout elements without writing code.
After creating a theme, you can assign it at different levels within your billing structure. When an Invoice is generated, Maxio applies the most specific available theme based on a defined hierarchy.
Theme assignment hierarchy
Theme assignment follows a hierarchical model. Maxio evaluates each level in order and applies the most specific assigned theme available at the time the Invoice is generated.
The hierarchy is as follows:
- An explicit theme selected directly on the Invoice.
- The theme assigned to the Subscription. If you don't explicitly assign one, and your Site has a default theme configured, new Subscriptions automatically use that default theme.
- The theme assigned to the Customer.
If no theme resolves at any of these levels, the Invoice renders using Advanced Billing's standard, non-themed Invoice template.
Prerequisites
Using Branding Themes requires invoice-centric billing to be enabled on your Site.
Limitations
A Site can have up to 15 Branding Themes.
